Debora L. Bryant, M.F.A., M.S.W., L.C.S.W., has thirty years of experience as a psychotherapist, helping individuals and couples find their truest selves and live their human potential more fully.

She has extensive training in many treatment modalities that allow for an approach which is tailor made for each client. She provides an open, safe and compassionate atmosphere in which personal blocks and limitations can be worked through, freeing one’s essential nature and enabling one’s life to be more fulfilling, loving and creative.

Specifically, Debora integrates the use of psychodynamic psychotherapy, gestalt therapy, somatic experiencing, core-energetics, breath and awareness-focused bodywork, brainspotting* (one of the newest, highly effective trauma/therapy methods), and spiritual counseling* (The Diamond Approach).

She specializes in helping individuals with issues of depression, grief, anxiety, self-esteem, body image, eating disorders, work/career and life balance. She also helps individuals develop mind/body/spirit wholeness and realize and actualize their personal potential in all areas of life.

In her extensive work with couples, Debora has successfully helped clients to break negative, unproductive interpersonal patterns, and to create and maintain authentic intimacy, improve communication, and deepen their love.

In addition, Debora is a visual artist with a Masters Degree in Fine Arts and has shown her work in art galleries in NYC. She now greatly enjoys helping others to expand their own creative processes in all areas of life. She views psychotherapy as an art form which is open, fascinating, and creatively interactive.

*BRAINSPOTTING: Brainspotting works by identifying, processing, and releasing core neurophysiological sources of trauma and emotional/body pain. A “brainspot” is an eye position that the therapist and client find together which correlates with a particular issue or trauma. It taps into the deep brain and the body, and provides direct access to the autonomic and limbic systems within the central nervous system. Biolateral sound is also used during the process(through headphones); It is deep and powerful, yet also soothing, focused and containing. It also helps to integrate the different capacities of the left and right brain. Brainspotting harnesses the brain/body/being’s capacity to release and heal painful emotions, maladaptive behaviors and survival strategies, and to reestablish healthy nervous system homeostasis and ease. Clients often report a profound sense of calm, peace, and clarity, following a session. There is often a sense of wonder in the process, and a deepening trust in one’s own inner guidance and ability to release previously frozen traumas, “stuck” issues, painful emotions, and various kinds of physical body pain, and to move toward a greater sense of health, wholeness, joy, love, and freedom.

Debora is a certified Brainspotting therapist.

*THE DIAMOND APPROACH TO SPIRITUAL REALIZATION: The Diamond Approach is a spiritual path that allows each of us to actualize our personal potential as a unique expression of the universal and boundless nature of reality. Supported by practices of meditation and self-remembrance, the central method of the teaching, inquiry, acknowledges and utilizes experiences of every day life as the gateways into Reality, into our True Nature. By inquiring into our ordinary experience with presence, openness and sincere curiosity, we find that Reality reveals its beauty, richness and depth in a way that is alive, fulfilling and relevant to human life. By attending to exactly where we are in each specific moment, each individual soul is encouraged to unfold and develop its hidden potentialities in its own timing and according to its inner intelligence.

The Diamond Approach has been Debora's Spiritual Path for 20 years. She is currently in the final stages of her training to become a teacher of this path and is offering a series of low fee spiritual inquiry sessions.
