Presentation and Vocal/Nonverbal

Tools for Therapists

With Lee Potts, Ph.D.

Saturday, October 20, 2007

Effective presentation can help you recruit and retain clients. Communication behaviors such as body language, vocal tone, and style send significant messages about you and affect all of your professional interactions--from your answering machine voice to phone consultations, therapeutic sessions, courtroom testimonies, and public presentations. So honing these skills makes good sense. Also, learning how to release vocal/physical blocks can provide therapists with new ways to help clients.

Text Box: Explore ways to enhance your personal communication style.
Develop tools for relaxing, channeling nervous tension, building self-confidence, and projecting centered energy.
Learn how to release the voice, which involves opening the breath and undoing stuck places in the body.
Identify and practice ways to make “body talk” more communicative.
Heighten your awareness of vocal/nonverbal communication behaviors and acquire techniques to use in working with clients.
